Nashville, Tenn. – Two adults in a school bus were injured Tuesday when the bus was sideswiped by another car, authorities said.
The incident took place on Tennessean Boulevard, near the entrance to a school around 3:30 p.m., where two girls were riding on the back of the bus. Students had exited the bus to take photographs with an adult, who was standing on the street.
Witnesses said the vehicle that struck the bus was making a left-hand turn and collided with the bus.
A witness who spoke on the condition of anonymity said two young men and a woman were in the other car that came into contact with the school bus.
The driver of the car remained at the scene until police and fire crews arrived.
Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael McVey said the bus driver had suffered minor injuries, including bruises and a broken arm. Students who were on board were “good, healthy” and the driver was the only one who was injured, he said.
The driver and another person who were in the car were taken to the hospital as a precaution, McVey said.
The wreck took place just outside the boundaries of the Nashville school system in Davidson County, but was not in school grounds. The crash is under investigation, he said.
The school district has notified parents, but there were no students on board the bus at the time of the wreck, the district said in a statement.
