Tiny Love Stories: ‘I Broke Your Heart, You Broke My Rib’
A sweet little voice starts singing somewhere in the distance: “He loves me just the way I am.”
As we sing along to the lyrics of Tiny Love Stories, you know that the voice comes from the heart of a woman who loves, or at least has deep affection for, her man.
This heart-felt, heartfelt song was put to music by the talented duo, The Pussycat Dolls, in 1986. It’s the story of two lovers from two separate worlds: one from the land of California, where they were raised, and the other from smalltown Illinois, where they grew up.
As the song goes, “He loves me just the way I am. And I love him just the way he is.” It was written in a moment of desperation for the both of them, because, after a failed relationship and a divorce, the one who had been cheated on decided he was going to show the other he was worth the wait.
The song is filled with hope: “I’m coming to your place/ I want to be here tonight/ To love you so bad.” You’ve been there, so you get the picture.
It’s a good time to be a woman in love. You get to pick the man you want, and you get to pick the kind of love you deserve. It’s also a good time to be a woman in love when you aren’t in a relationship.
Unfortunately, that’s not the case for the other half of the couple, although there are plenty of ladies out there who are happy to take up the mantle of “Man-Woman.”
The Pussycat Dolls and the other lady-of-the-men are all about the heart. The Pussycat Dolls make it seem like their hearts are bigger than their stomachs, and when their hearts are bigger than their stomachs, it’s usually because they’re doing something that makes them feel that way.
