LOS ANGELES (AP) — Singer Kesha is back in the spotlight — with a new woman in her life.
Kesha, a 14-year-old singer from Georgia, met Alexander Edwards, the son of Cher’s late manager David Dagen, at a restaurant in Los Angeles on Monday, according to a representative for Edwards.
Edwards told The Associated Press on Monday that he would represent Kesha for free in a talent contest, and that he had seen her perform.
“We just did it like friends,” he said.
Edwards said that they had plans to spend time together, adding that he would be with Kesha around her birthday because he had a lot of things going on. Edwards didn’t disclose the nature of his plans for being in Los Angeles, but said he would find his way to Los Angeles.
Asked if he wanted to be involved in Kesha’s career at an early age, Edwards said: “That’s how I grew up. I love my family.”
He continued: “I guess you could say I’m her first real love.”
Kesha’s return to the spotlight comes just a day after her former manager tweeted that she had broken up with her longtime boyfriend, rapper Tyga. A rep for Tyga said last week that the two were no longer dating.

In a tweet sent late Sunday night, his former manager sent a photo of an engagement ring with the message: “Why are the fans getting mad about all of this?? We are in love, it’s all good.”
A rep for the “Beez” rapper declined to comment to The Associated Press.
Shortly after the posting, other tweets surfaced that included photos of Kesha wearing the ring with the hashtag #KeshaWon’tHearTyga.
