Olivia Rodrigo, H.E.R. and The Weeknd were among the winners at Apple Music’s Echo Awards, which celebrated the year’s best albums and songs.
Hosted by Annie Leibovitz, host of “Apple Music’s Great Big Signing,” at MoMA PS1 in New York, the event featured a star-studded lineup. Sean “Diddy” Combs, Queen Latifah, Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, G-Eazy, Justin Bieber, Lana Del Rey, Cardi B, Beck, Amy Schumer, Grimes, Jamie Foxx, Robyn, Grace VanderWaal, DJ Khaled, SZA, and others were just a few of the performers.
The awards were voted on by music industry professionals from across the globe. In addition to this year’s winners, the Apple Music Charts topped off the festivities with honors for Beyoncé’s “Lemonade,” M.I.A.’s “Born Free,” Cardi B’s “Invasion of Privacy,” H.E.R.’s “H.E.R.” and “The Weeknd’s Starboy.”
The event was held to celebrate each of this year’s Apple Music Hot 100 Hits, the company’s annual celebration of the top songs, albums and artist’s breakthroughs of the past year.
“At Apple Music, we think of ourselves as a platform that shares the exciting, inspiring, vibrant, and best of what the music industry has to offer, from the iconic to the cutting edge,” Apple’s creative director, Edward Williams, said in a statement. “We hope that our audience would be as inspired and uplifted by our Beats 1 radio show and partnership with our partners at The Echo Awards as we are.”
