Marib: Security tightened up on Wednesday in the southern Yemeni city of Marib following the political ascendancy of the Houthi militia, as the militia gained control of the city, says Hurriyet Daily News.
A joint force of Central Security Forces, Special Security Forces and the Yemen Shield Military units controlled the streets and the roads between Marib city and the capital Sanaa, implementing the targeted military operations of President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi’s Yemeni forces against the militias.
Most of the security personnel taken control of some strategic roads inside and outside the city, and acted as checkpoints across the city. They gave motorists and residents free access to the streets.
Meanwhile, according to a statement released by the military council under command of commander in chief, Colonel Saeed Mohammad Ahmed, the Yemen Shield military forces and Special Security Forces seized the airports in al-Jawf, al-Anad and Marib cities, the Marib Oil and Gas Company and it flooded the ports of the northern coast with oil and natural gas, as well as seized several buildings.
