CNN Style returns to Japan this March to look at the architecture that is shaking up the country’s business culture.
When Sun Shulman talks about foreign architecture in Japan, he sounds very polite.
“From downtown-central Tokyo, I think there’s a really good system of Ketsukawa-san to Katsukawa,” he says, referring to an architect who has produced some of the city’s most iconic structures.
“They have their own house of architecture in Tokyo.”
But if Shulman — an American whose eponymous firm has built iconic design for major international clients including Apple — still associates with architecture within the capital, he certainly doesn’t associate it with its curvy glass and titanium structures.
