Iga Swiatek of Latvia reached her first US Open title match by defeating top-seeded Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands 6-4, 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 on Wednesday in the second round.

Swiatek, who is making her first appearance in the US Open singles final, defeated three of the best players in the women’s tour in the past week. On Wednesday she defeated Bertens, Maria Jose Martinez and Zheng Sa at the Sony Open at Sony City, Washington, just to name a few.

Swiatek’s other appearance ended at the final, where she faced another wild card, Ons Jabeur of the Netherlands, in a semi-final match. Jabeur defeated Swiatek on the tiebreak, 7-6(5), 6-2, to reach the final.

Ons Jabeur of the Netherlands reached the final with a win over Iga Swiatek of Latvia 6-4, 2-6, 7-5, to reach her first US Open finals.

Swiatek, who will be playing in her third US Open, will take on Ons Jabeur for the right to play in her first US Open final.

The top 14 in the world are set to play a total of 13 rounds in the tournament, which will be held from July 14-21 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.

The draw will be made Friday, July 14 at 9 a.m. ET. In the singles draw, if Swiatek wins her singles quarterfinal match, she will meet the winner of the match between Zheng Sa of China and Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain on Friday.

Swiatek will play the top female player in the world in the quarters, Ons Jabeur, who is ranked No. 15. If they won in their singles quarterfinal, then Swiatek would face the winner on Saturday.

But that’s not the case.
