Vunipola and May scored their tries in the first 23 minutes, and their coach, Eddie Jones, fielded all his best-known players, leaving fit-again Stuart Hogg on the bench while Charlie Ewels, Maro Itoje and Mako Vunipola sat out the game with injury.
Mark Wilson and Anthony Watson added further tries for England, who last month equalled their best start to a World Cup with victories over Argentina and Tonga, having opened their campaign with a 32-12 win over Fiji at Twickenham in September 2017.
“We didn’t pay too much attention to (the victory) yesterday so you’re never comfortable when you lose the game. I thought we had a very good game,” Jones said. “We put a lot of hard work in during the week. We felt we had a good fitness base coming in, so they were a big challenge for us.”
England will face Argentina in their next World Cup group match at Twickenham on Sunday.
