10 of the world’s largest superyachts sold for record £250m

A UK superyacht leasing company has sold one of the largest ever at £250m for an unnamed buyer, a price spokesman said on Friday is in line with what yachts sellers have been charging. Here are 10 of the world’s largest (based on square metres):

1. OOCL Victory (2017): 216ft, with 6,000 sq m of salable accommodation. New after being restored by Emirates airline. Built in 1980 by Carpenter yachts.

2. MB54 (2006): 212ft. Built in 1986 for businessman Jack Vigeant; refitted by OOCL in 2008.

3. QZ81 (2003): 218ft. The latest of superyacht designers Crystal will release a “artistry model” of this 130-metre mega yacht later this year, and so far estimates its value at £100m.

4. Eclipse (2014): 210ft.

5. QZ84 (2005): 209ft.

6. La Victor (2008): 209ft. Built for Standard Motor Carriers in 1998 and refitted by Crystal Sea Yachts in 2005.

7. Countess (2001): 198ft.

8. Eclipse Yacht Club (2011): 188ft.

9. Ecstasia (2001): 189ft.

10. The Apsley (2002): 189ft.

The Enviroline spokesperson declined to say whether the new owner has made a guarantee that the yacht would be refurbished to the same quality as OOCL Victory. She said: “You wouldn’t do that, would you?”
